Dialectical Thinking
This project is a series of black and white ink etchings pulled from my memory, dreams and nightmares. I began this work as a private collection to help myself uncover and begin to process memories that have been buried by time and pain. Over the years this collection began to be quite large, including writings and a book. As I began the process of trauma informed therapy I started to look at this work in a different light. This work became a tome of information, a mirror into the parts and moments that I had hid from my memory. As I learned about how trauma works, how it affects brains, neurology, immune response, anxiety, depression and so many other elements, I used this work to help myself process. These images come automatically, without practice or intended purpose, this work is my most essential honesty, more honest than I can often comprehend.
